In today’s session there was a question about a template for effective hardware and software auditing. The following is a scoping checklist used at R & G Technologies internally to collect information on their clients as part of the technology planning and project implementation phase. Some of it is quite technical. This should give you a fairly good list of items which need to be gathered as part of your “audit” or analysis. There are then further documents which you can produce based off this information to meet the needs of your technology planning process.
Module 3: Budgeting and ROI
Budgeting and determining Return on Investment (ROI) are essential elements of effective planning and implementation of technology projects. This session provides guidelines for budgeting and approaches for determining a technology projects ROI.

Module 4: IT basics, the Cloud and data management
IT infrastructure components are the foundational elements of technology in an organisation. We’ll discuss hardware, software, networks and how the Cloud is creating opportunities and challenges in this area, especially for not-for-profits. We’ll also cover the security and risk of the Cloud, examples of Cloud tools for fundraising, communications and programs, as well as the human side of the Cloud.
Module 5: Online presence: website, email, social media, mobile
The primary way people discover and keep engaged with causes today is online. Your website and email program create a foundation for your online presence while social media creates new venues for discussion and engagement. Mobile is fast emerging as the preferred method for many to access content online, so we’ll cover what’s important to help your organisation keep up.
Module 6: Change management and the human side of tech
While technology can help us do some amazing things, no project succeeds without the human element, including planning, uptake, implementation and maintenance. This session covers addressing resistance, managing change and supporting sustainability.
