Win7 - which version?
We have WinXP (non genuine) on our computer lab PCs. We want to take advantage of the opportunity to purchase Win7. We use old PCs, though all have had a RAM upgrade to at least 512 MB (most should be upgradable to 1-2GB), and all have at least 30GB HDD. Should we go for 32bit Win7? We don't have Active Directory (or similar) - just a NAS and a printer shared via PC. We use Google Apps for email, sites, etc. Is there any compelling reason to go for Win7 Enterprise over Professional? Thanks!

There is no compelling reason for Enterprise over Professional for your environment. Both are similar and the extra features in Enterprise will not be useful for you.Reply by Neil McLachlan from Co Serve Consulting on Saturday, 19 May, 2012 - 15:08
To answer the other part of your question - there is no reason to use 64-bit Windows 7 in your environment. The 32-bit version is perfectly satisfactory for older hardware - particularly where RAM is less than 4 GB in total - and has the added advantage of compatibility with a much wider range of applications, device drivers and so on.
