Upgrade computers
We are looking at updating 3 laptops and 3 desktop computers. We are wanting to be able to share files and calenders. We have been approved a limited budget and would like advise on the most cost effective way to do this. Thanks Danielle

Danielle, Massively open question, the easiest way to share files is DropBox. The cheapest way to share calendars is Google. But if your budget covers it, I would be going straight to MS Office and using Calendars and Online file storage. And there are lots in between. Best thing is to contact a good consultant that has experience in Not For Profit, and get a good fit for what you are trying to achieve. Hi Danielle, The simple answer here is that the most cost efective way to connect these machines is to use a simple workgroup. Network the machines and designate one of them as your "Server". Windows 7 will handle up to 20 connections so you are OK for capacity. Sharing calendars is the complicated part. To do this you really need Exchange server. You have two options here.....run one yourself (Expensive) or use a hosted service for about $8 per month per user. I would suggest the hosted option is your most cost effective option. Remember you can buy Office Pro from Donortech for next to nothing if you do not already have licences. If you do already have them, you can just transfer to the new computer.
