Refurbished computers - transferring information
Hi, We have just received new computers and have uploaded with all the new programs. We are now left with the issue of transferring information from our personal computers to the new "work" ones. In particular we've noticed that Microsoft Outlook does not automatically upload all old emails (it starts afesh with only the new ones that have come in after the date of set up). Are you able to offer advice on how to transfer files and emails? Many thanks

Hi there, This is mainly a security question, and ways to get around it. The reason Outlook does that is to ensure the data is has is correct and up to date from the correct source (usually virus protected etc). I think you would be best to get in an exchange person to get the data you are trying to put on the server from the person PCs to the new equipment. This is a bit of a complex process and I don't think there is enough room in the Answer Box to fit all the details in. I would also recommend a bit of research on the Microsoft forums would help. But as this is a breech of normal set up, go the expert. At least if he looses the data (common in this situation) he has a higher chance of getting it back. Hi There. If you use the "Windows Easy Transfer" tool it will bring accross all your settings and files etc. If the PST file location is local it will also copy that accross and if not it will point outlook back to the network location. Just click "Start" then type "Transfer"....it should come up.
