Changing laptop software from Vista to Windows 7
I have an old laptop which is around 4yrs old and it is running extremely slow and I was wondering would it be best to format the drive and run XP professional or Windows 7 so that i can reserve memory space. Could you please advise me on the best running software for a laptop of this age.

Assuming that your 4 year old PC meets the technical requirements for running Windows 7 this would be the best upgrade option. The following answer to a similar question sets out the steps you should take to do this: http://www.donortec.org/matchit/questions/5Reply by Debbie Lindsay from iseek computing on Friday, 25 November, 2011 - 13:16
Before proceeeding with any re-install, get it checked by an IT person. Given the age, its highly likely that that HDD is on the way out, causing the general slowness. IMHO you'd be much better off investing in a replacement laptop. Unless you've bought at the higher end of the laptop market, 3 years is about the average lifespan.
