Microsoft Outlook 2010 intermittent crashes on terminal server

We have an issue with Microsoft Outlook 2010 crashing intermittently on our terminal server (server 2008 R2). Our contractor appears to have done all they can do but the problem still remains albeit lessened. - non essential addins are inactive - upgraded from outlook 2007 and whole office 2007 package to 2010 - upgraded server ram from 4gb to 12gb - installation is 8 months old and has only been a problem for the past month

You need more information about what the crash is (i.e. the crash log / debug log). You can start Outlook in logging mode: http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/outlook-help/command-line-switches-for-outlook-2010-HP010354956.aspx Other thoughts: - Use Office 32bit not 64 - Office 64 simply doesn't play nicely with most things out there yet (third party plugins, templates, macros, toolbars etc) (you don't say which version you're using but check...) - Start Outlook in safe mode - Need more information such as - is it all users, only some users, only when performing a particular task. Also things like when it crashes does it crash Outlook for all current users, or only the user in question. - And... I assume you're using an Exchange server - has anything changed there? - Do any non-Terminal Server users experience the same issues? Regards, Chris Far Edge

Does it crash in safe mode? outlook /safe /cleanrules etc. Suggest deleting & recreating the profile too. Not clear on what you mean here: "have not been able to replicate what client has reported as causing the crash including my own outlook terminal services crash" Do you mean: - it doesn't crash for you if you login?; or - when it crashes for the client it kills terminal services for all users so you can't troubleshoot? - When you post the application crash to MS what does it come back with? Hi, sounds to me like outlook is hitting a fault in either the physical memory, or the pagefile. This can be a common issue with terminal server installs, of office products. Excel will probably be the next issue to raise its head. Has there been any other software installed on the terminal server in the past month, that uses an outlook plugin? More than happy to have a look and try and diagnose the issue if you like. Feel free to contact me if you want us to have a look. Thanks Grant

Which version of outlook : 32-bit or 64-bit? I would recommend the 32-bit for terminal services. Also, I recommend the re-creation of the profile http://support.microsoft.com/kb/829918 If this does not help, please post your question here http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/outlook/threads

Is the crashing still occurring, and have you identified any particular circumstances when it occurs? The issue could be from the upgrade from 2007 to 2010 leaving some remnant registry keys. Check for/remove the key [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Office\12.0]
