Total newbie at connectingup with a desire to buy and download MS Office currently

I'm finding 'getting' --if that is the right word --software from Microsoft (for the first time) bewildering. (including the connectingup process) (and validation code, when does that arrive, after I buy Office on connecting up?)(maybe that comes later). Obviously there is a lot to do given the length of the instructions pages, but basically I am at http://mig1.cisa.asn.au/help/downloading-microsoft-software-from-vlsc where it says "Log onto your VLSC account (https://www.microsoft.com/Licensing/servicecenter/default.aspx)" I do not have this account so I have to create one, so I am at (after create a microsoft identity account or something which I didn't have either). https://www.microsoft.com/Licensing/servicecenter/Administration/AddOpenLicense.aspx and it's asking me "To add an Open License to your VLSC profile, enter your first and last name, a valid Authorization and License Number and click Submit. * First Name * Last Name * License number * Authorization number What is this, what does it mean, what do I do? This is three or four confimation emails today already. And then I can continue with the rest of instructions at ?http://mig1.cisa.asn.au/help/downloading-microsoft-software-from-vlsc

I'm with you. If the only thing you do is licensing then I'm sure the process is straightforward and the jargon makes sense. However for those of us that do licensing on an occasional basis it's a very confusing and frustrating, especially when the processes are different for the various types of licenses you can get - corporate, academic, NFP, education, volume and software assured all have slightly different processes and terminology - along with rules of use of course. Microsoft has certifications available for licensing. I feel that if you have to run a course to learn how to buy a product then you've made the buying process too hard. I'll stop my rant now. I don't have a solution for you but I do have sympathy.
