Using both Office 365 and Google Apps
Cloud - Asked by lifeflow on Tuesday, 19 April, 2016 - 12:20
Hello experts, we are considering upgrading to an Office 365 package. However, we would also like to use Google Forms. Is it possible to register for Google for Non Profits, but not have our whole email domain move over to Google? ie we will need our email domain to go across to Office 365 once we start using that platform. We currently have a gmail address for our Google related stuff, but use our own domain for our email. Thanks, John.

Hi, When you say "upgrading to Office 365" what exactly do you mean? You can use the applications and login only with your vanity domain (e.g. lifeflow.onmicrosoft.com) but you won't be able to use the online 365 Exchange Web access. You don't have to move your domain for either Google or Microsoft - it depends on how far you want to integrate everything with them. For example "everything", "some things" or "nothing". There will obviously be flow on effects to other systems - whether it's Google Forms or Sharepoint workflows - you need to work out what's going to fit best for your overall desired workflows / data / etc.Reply by Jim Kolymbis from ATOMIC BUSINESS IT on Tuesday, 19 April, 2016 - 13:48
Hi, yes the above is possible. You would use your gmail details for all things google and have separate authentication details for Office365. Are you looking to move your domain & email into Office365? Regards, Jim www.atomicbit.com.auReply by Grant Laing from Blended IT Solutions on Tuesday, 19 April, 2016 - 13:54
Hi, Google for non-for-profits is ending so this is not solution I would recommend for you, as far as I know you would have been able to do the email and domain the way you wanted to, it is all a question of directing the email routes and mx records to point to where you want it to go. You could use email forwarding and external spam filters to keep your domains separate and this includes for office 365 as well. Hello to everyone that has replied, and thankyou - much appreciated. Apologies for my late response... In reply to Jim's question: yes we are currently planning on moving domain and email to Office365. We have Office 2013 on our desktops so will continue with that. Thankyou all for your input / contact details, I plan to follow up further shortly. Regards, John.
