Problems Installing MS Office Pro 2010 Plus - Error 1706

I have a Vista Ultimate machine which previously had MS Office 2007 on it. During the install of MS Off 2010+ the CD drive failed to read resulting in an aborted install. On attempting to install the software from a USB CD drive it generates an error 1706 saying it can not find the files required. I have attempted multiple removals & run the MS tools for removal of MS Office 2003/2007/2010. I have also run the install from the root of the CD & also the x86 directory without success. Does anyone have any clues as to what I may do to resolve this issue please ?

Hi, You will need to change the usb cd drive letter to be the same as the original one that failed. You need to do this under computer management with the usb cd plugged in. This should fix the issue as the original install is looking for this location. If it doesn't fix the issue let us know and will try and find another way to fix it.
