Purchase Cisco Hardware for Gigabit Fibre network
Hi I am looking at purchasing a Cisco C2960-24TC-L Gigabit Ethernet switch and two Cisco SFP Gigabit Interface converters GLC-LH-SM to replace the 10/100 media converters that we currently have. I already have a Cisco 48 port switch with uplink ports at the other end. The Fibre is OM1 Multi mode and the distance is about 200 metres. I would like to check that the hardware configuration I have selected is correct. My contact detwails are 0417 269 290 or 02 8922 6409. Many thanks, Ann Cochrane

Hi Ann. We raised this issue with our global partners, and they checked with a Cisco product advisor (by contacting Cisco customer service) and if there is no special feature that you are looking to implement, the C2960G-24TC-L would meet the requirements. You may also look into the Cisco SFP Gigabit Interface converters, GLC-SX-MM. Here is a link you can check out: http://www.cisco.com/en/US/prod/collateral/modules/ps5455/ps6577/product_data_sheet0900aecd8033f885.html Hope this information helps. Hi Ann. Further to Ryan's comments above, in broadly similar circumstances to those you describe, we recently supplied two Cisco C2960G-24TC-L with four GLC-SX-MM SFP LC Connector SX Transceivers. Regards Neil
