Security and Activation of Windows 7 in a corporate environment
Hi There, We currently operate within a corporate network, have a few queries before we go ahead with an upgrade: 1. If we go with Win 7 enterprise 64 bit, will it be able to accept Windows security updates/patches from a Corporate Windows Server (WSus)? 2. What happens if we need to re-image the machine? Can the Key be used for multiple re-installs? (How many re-installs are allowed?) 3. If we have Office Pro Plus 2010, when we activate it, does it matter if it's within a corporate environment? Thanks in advance, Bronwyn

Hi Bronwyn,In relation to your first query. Use a KMS licensing server. This can be used for most Microsoft products – Office + add-ons, Windows and servers Best Regards Argy Paktitis Emerging ITReply by n/a from Rococo IT on Saturday, 30 June, 2012 - 22:47
1. Yes. I'm assuming that all workstations are connected to the domain, so you need to create a group policy that tells the Windows 7 machines that you have WSUS. Assuming you have this already based on the question, it's likely that it's already configured. 2. Microsoft keys issued via Donortec can be re-used many times. Be careful though, as Microsoft have disabled keys in my experience from too many reinstalls, and it has triggered an audit at one NFP. They will issue a new key immediately upon request providing you have your account details. 3. It does not matter what network you're on when activating software with your MAK. It does when you use KMS. Hope this helps.
