VPN for Mac Server
When traveling. Volunteers, workers need to connect to the OSX Mac Server via VPN software. We have a static IP address. I understand DonorTec has NetLeverage - which looks great. But is for Windows only. Do you have any suggestions for what software could be used on client Macs to access the Mac Server. Or if there is other VPN software for OSC Servers (apart from what is installed via Mac OSX Server). Regards Tony

I would suggest that you don't connect your Mac directly to the internet, and instead install a firewall that allows you to VPN into it. pfSense or Endian firwall software can be downloaded for free and installed on an old recycled PC. You then install OpenVPN software on your client computers and with the correct login credentials your users appear on your network. They can be downloaded from http://pfsense.org or http://endian.comReply by ryan jonescan on Wednesday, 13 June, 2012 - 09:58
Hi Tony. I just use the built in Mac VPN client. You can set it up in System Preferences > Network. It seems to work well. NetLeverage is for desktop virtualisation - were you after VPN or Screen Sharing/VNC? Good luck! Ryan Jones Connecting Up
