Windows 7 64bit or 32bit?
Hi, If I get W7 64bit on a 64bit machine and the rest of the organisation is still on windows XP 32 bit, will I have problems with drivers, ie should I rather get Windows 7 32 bit? Thanks Lewis

W764bit. You are unlikely to get a new machine with under 4G of ram which requires x64; x32 does not give you any great compatibility advantages over x64 when considering migrating your current applications from WinXP; and any new software coming onto the market is likely to be targeted at x64. Do however run Office 32 bit not x64 because macros and plugins etc don't work between 32 & 64bit which can be very painful to work around.Reply by Aaron Hawke from Xari Group Pty Ltd on Thursday, 25 August, 2011 - 10:52
Hi Lewis, 64bit driver issues tend to only occur with older hardware such as dial-up modems and printers. Aside from checking on compatibility with any legacy hardware that you may be using, I would also double check on whether the applications you are using are happy on a 64bit Operating System (paying particular attention to any specialised apps you may be running). Best Regards, Jeremy.
