Microsoft Dynamic CRM on-premise update
Design and development - Asked by fare on Tuesday, 17 May, 2016 - 13:07
Dear all, We would like to upgrade our Microsoft Dynamics CRM from version 2011 to 2015, apparently our software assurance has been expired on 2014 and the latest Microsoft Dynamics CRM we are eligible for is version 2013, If we would like to license to the 2015 version we may have to purchase the licenses again. I’m wondering if we just need to buy server license again or we need to purchase server and CALs licenses both? Regards, Peyman Jeyhani

Peyman, if your software Assurance has expired in 2014, you will need to purchase the software again to go to the latest version. If you are eligible and buying On Premise versions through ConnectingUp as a true charity its still a cost effective way to go, and you haven't lost anything as its a new purchase with the two years software Assurance included. you need both Server and Client CALS for on premise. The other option is to go to CRM Online and migrate your CRM 2011 there (still have to have someone do a 2013/2015/2016 upgrade for you). If you are eligible, CRM Online is about $19.70 per user/month for CRM professional licenses charity and their are educational, charity discounts available depending on your type of organisation. In this case you only pay for client subscriptions, there is no server part. If you aren't certain, we look after a lot of charities and have a good idea about your options. Feel free to give me a call/email (graham@metisc.com.au) or continue through the connecting up community. Graham, thanks for your answer. We are planning to purchase the on promise server and client CALs through ConnectingUp, I had a look at their website (http://mig1.cisa.asn.au/donations/nonprofit-software/server-software/customer-relationship-management-software) but I am not sure which CALs we need to buy, what are your thoughts?
