Hi Janine, No, the operating system is seperate, you will need to have at least windows 2008 server R2, to go with it. If you are going to order it from Donortec, you will need to order both the sql server 2008 r2 standard and the windows server 2008 r2 server. you will also need some hardware that will support this, for the pysical server unless you are going to virtualize it. Another point to remember is that for various reasons Microsoft recommend not installing SQL Server on a Domain Controller. For small networks with domains this effectively means either accepting restricted functionality or perhaps extra server provisioning. Regards Neil
