Anti Virus Software
My current anti virus software, Symantic Endpoint Protection Small Business Edition, is about to expire. What is the difference between this product and Symantic Protection Suite Small Business Edition. As I currently have the software will I need to reinstall or just add time. I have also currently have 10 licences. Thanks Wendy

Hi wendy, The main difference between the two is that the Protection Suite includes backup and recovery as part of this edition, and the endpoint does not. The endpoint is more for the desktop protection, and the Protection suite is more for a whole company protection. here is two web links that will explain the differences. http://eval.symantec.com/mktginfo/enterprise/fact_sheets/b-datasheet_sps_sbe.en-us.pdf, http://www.symantec.com/content/en/us/enterprise/other_resources/sb-security-compare.pdf hope this helps, feel free to contact us if you require further help. thanks GrantReply by Colin Thompson from TechBrain on Monday, 4 July, 2011 - 01:54
Hi Wendy, The other, very significant diference, is that Endpoint Protection does not include and Anti-SPAM component and does NOT protect your exchange mail server. If you go to http://www.symantec.com/business/protection-suite-small-business-edition and click "Compare" you will see a comparison between the two products. To make it easy, here is a full list of what you get extra: - Antivirus for MAC - Antivirus/ Antispam/ Antiphishing - Content filtering/ Compliance - Microsoft Exchange Protection - Backup live desktops and laptops - Restore to any hardware - Threat driven backups If you have an exchange server you definately should be using Protection Suite.Reply by Colin Thompson from TechBrain on Monday, 4 July, 2011 - 01:58
Hi Wendy, Forgot to mention, you do not have to re-install the client if you move to protection suite but you will need to re-install the server. It is possible to export all of your policies and settings if you have configured them. This will save you from having to set them all up again manually.
