Selecting new Anti-virus software
Our AVG 2012 anti virus software is coming up for renewal. I am looking for the best option and am considering AVG 2013, Trend Micro, Kapersky EndPoint. We have 25 onsite computers and 1 laptop. We do not currently support mobile devices although there is potential for that to occur. Please rank the above products (and add any other if considered better) based on ease of installation, impact on operating system and success rate for purpose.

As a MSP (Managed Service provider) which looks after serveral NFP companies, we offer an integrated solution (monitoring 24/7) of all devices which includes a AV package. Saves client time managing all IT infrastructure/Antivirus etc. Have you got access to a MSP that could offer something similar? Dear Companion House I would suggest cloud hosted anti-virus solutions like WebRoot AV or BitDefender. They make little demand on resources when compared with the mainstream vendors. Plus, they are often supplied on a per PC, per month fee which can make them very easy to budget for, and more flexible as your needs changed (as opposed to been locked into buying 5 or 10 licenses at a time. Do let us know if you need anything else. -Graeme Blue Arc IT Solutions, Fyshwick ACT 2609 www.blue-arc.com.auReply by Colin Thompson from TechBrain on Thursday, 29 August, 2013 - 19:03
Hi There, You should also consider Symantec Protection Suite as it is very cheap to buy through Connecting Up and is very good. You need to select the right version based on your requirements but http://mig1.cisa.asn.au/donations/symantec-enterprise/symantec-protection-suite-small-business-edition provide full cover for virus' and SPAM and costs $5 per user. You can customise it as much as you want or install as unmanaged clients if you prefer. To Whom It May Concern, With regards to your choices on Anti-virus programs, I would suggest Trend Micro WFBS Advanced. I have tried AVG and Kaspersky and takes way to long and requires too much technical knowledge, if you are an I.T. and technically sound and that is a cheaper option to take. But you also get what you pay for. If you have Thin Clients or only remote control terminals then Symantec Endpoint is the way to go. Otherwise Trend Micro is the easiest to manage and quite in-depth with it's scanning routines. The server software is easy to modify and installing the clients is quite easy as well and they are quite thorough. Hope This Helps. Kind Regards Adrian Khaw PRECiSE I.T. As Graeme from Blue Arc IT solutions suggested I would actively consider Webroot as I consider it to be a very good solution. Regards, Jason Ross www.ethisec.com.au - 1300 67 22 75
