Lap Top Computers for 3rd world sponsored kids
Heart Reach Australia (www.heartreacaustralia.com) has in it's medical and humanitarian aid programs in Vietnam, a great childrens sponsorship and support that has seen kids have the chance to get to school, get free medical care etc. A number have excelled in school, given the chance, and we are looking for some donated GOOD lap top computers for about 5 of these kids. If anyone can assist, I can offer a tax donation certificate for value. HRA is a tax deductible charity. My phone for queries is 0418246888 Sunshins Coast Qld Thanks Chris

Hi, To answer your question we don't have any at the moment we could donate, but sometimes the government departments do a charity program, when they retire old computers/laptops. Normally they go to auction or a secondhand vendor buys them, but they do sometimes have a few that they allow to go to charity. Your best bet is to contact a few departments and ask for the IT manager of the desktop support area, they should be able to help you out. Otherwise there is a program run in these countries to provide a basic laptop, to these types of kids. The one that springs to mind is one laptop per child, here is the weblink. http://laptop.org/en/children/countries/index.shtml We do sometimes come across old laptops, so if you have any questions please feel free to email us about this.Reply by Colin Thompson from TechBrain on Friday, 22 February, 2013 - 17:03
Hi There Chris, We have opportunities to donate laptops occasionally and I guess the only question is "What are you after?". Not many organisations get rid of perfectly good laptops under 12 months (thought there are a few i imagine).....but if you can work with laptops that are 2-3 years old then you should be able to pick them up. WA might be a long way to go to pickup a few laptops so why not talk to a local computer company. Ask them to talk to THEIR customers any time they replace a laptop....perhaps even do a little flyer for them to give out? Looks like you have a fair few in your area (http://www.yellowpages.com.au/find/computer-equipment/buderim-qld).
