Access database dual computer usage
We have a small office where we are using Access database on two computers. Can you advise the best way for us to be able to work on the database at the same time.

Hi, You could purchase a small Network attached external drive, and place the file on there. Each computer could access a common share. I would suggest that any method you use, make sure that the data file is backed up at least once a day. Regards ArgyReply by Grant Laing from Blended IT Solutions on Tuesday, 29 January, 2013 - 11:46
Hi, You can setup a folder to share the location on one computer to the other, and you can place the access database in there. you will need to make sure you have set the right permissions to access the folder and that you have turned on sharing in the access database as well. This will mean you will need to move it from the my docs folder it currently resides in by default. If you need a hand to set this up please give us a call or email us. thanks GrantReply by Colin Thompson from TechBrain on Tuesday, 29 January, 2013 - 13:15
Hi There, If you are a bit more adventurous, a simple "How To" to share the database is at http://office.microsoft.com/en-au/access-help/ways-to-share-an-access-database-HA010279159.aspx (Just jump to the bit about "Share a database by using a network folder") A bit of information on options you can set on your sharing to make it work a bit better is at http://office.microsoft.com/en-au/access-help/set-options-for-a-shared-access-database-mdb-HP005188297.aspx Regards Colin Thompson Blue Networks & Technology http://www.bluenetworks.com.au
